Dr. Yasmin Khakoo

Dr. Khakoo is a pediatric neurologist with expertise in diagnosing and treating the neurological complications of cancer in children and young adults. She also diagnoses and treats primary brain tumors in pediatric patients, and cares for children who have the rare neurologic condition called neurocutaneous melanocytosis (NCM), seen in some patients with large congenital melanocytic nevi.

Since 2005 she has served as Director of the Pediatric Neuro-oncology Fellowship at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, teaching and supervising residents and fellows, who enjoy the benefit of a large volume of patients cared for by an experienced team of leading clinicians. She also works with Sloan-Kettering’s Communication Skills Research and Training Laboratory, providing communication-skills training to physicians and nurses. “I consider myself to be a guardian of my patients’ nervous systems, and I want them to survive and thrive to be the best they can be.”
